What the papers said

This new section to our website will build up an archive of news reports of significant events that have taken place in the town, or of news stories relating to significant buildings or features of the town. These are full transcriptions of the news stories as they appeared at the time. The newspapers from which the extracts are taken, have been digitised and form part of the British Newspaper Archive.
