The Vision

Our Market Art Project was launched in 2009. Discover our long term vision to celebrate the livestock markets that took place on the streets of Spalding.

Portrait of a Town

Joseph Hillier was commissioned by Transported and the Spalding & District Civic Society in 2016 to create a series of sculptures reflecting the people who together reflect the unique character of Spalding and its importance to the Nation's food supply.

The Hiring

Laury Dizengremel’s sculpture commemorates the annual Hiring Fair held each May in Hall Place, when farm-workers and domestics converged on Spalding to offer their skills to employers in search of a shepherd or ploughboy or dairymaid.

Spalding MARK-IT Trail

Keep up to date with the progress of our the most ambitious part of our Market Art Project to date. The MARK-IT Trail aims to bring back cattle, sheep, pigs and so on to the town centre in the form of high quality public works of art marking the sites where different livestock was originally sold.
