MARK-IT Trail:Installation

The last couple of weeks before our commissions of sheep and cattle sculptures in our MARK-IT Trail were unveiled was a busy time.

On Swan Street contractors from JRH Services of Lincoln dug out the ground for the foundations by hand to ensure that none of tthe underground utilities, before the foundation plinths designed by South Lincs Consulting Ltd were installed. Then on the day the sculptures were installed volunteers from the Civic Society, together with members of the Transported team were on hand to direct traffic during the installation which required New Road to be closed for a while. Throughout sculptor Graeme Mitcheson was on hand to ensure that scupltures were precisely positioned as he intended.

The Society is grateful to Calthrops Solicitors for allowing us to install a window display featuring a fleece from a Lincoln Longwool sheep, the maquette that Graeme had made as part of his original proposal together with information about this phase of the MARK-IT Trail.

This phase of the MARK-IT Trail was made possible through support from South Holland District Council and Transported and was funded through the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, and generous private donations to the Spalding & District Civic Society.
